Chattogram Challengers is a franchise team of BPL. The first season of the Bangladesh Premier League was played in 2012. Chattogram Challengers Team Franchise History
Every country has its cricket league and same as the Bangladesh Cricket Board organizes the BPL in 2012. BCB decide to select 6 teams from different cities & Chattogram Challengers is one of the franchise teams of the Bangladesh Premier League. In the edition SQ Sports bought them but later DBL Sports Limited bought the franchise in 2015. In 2019 DBL terminate the Chattogram Challengers when the BCB change the tournament format. Chattogram Challengers Team Performance
Chattogram team won the BPL trophy for 1st time in 2013 & Muhammadullah Riyad was the captain of the team. Khaled Mehmood was the coach of the team. Chattogram Team owner changes three times but despite that, they perform well. Here we share the playing performance of the team every season.
2012 Year
In the 1st edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, the Chattogram Challengers team can not perform well despite a strong squad. They have Jason Roy, Dwayne Bravo, Kevon Cooper & Muhammadullah Riyadh. Chattogram could not focus on their field side this season. They were disqualified controversially, and Barisal Burners went through the knockout stage. The management of the team was unhappy with the decision because they are knockout out of the match at 2 pm.
2013 to the 2014 Year
In this season Muhammadullah and Jason Roy. They include David Miller and Ryan ten Doeschate. During that time team perform well in three consecutive matches. They succeed to qualify in the play-off stage. After the play-off stage they success to reach the final but team could not win the final. Dhaka Gladiators defeat the Chattogram team in the final.
2015 to the 2016 Year
In 2015 Chattogram team introduce as the Chattogram Vikings team. DBL Sports Limited Company was the new owner of the team. Tamim Iqbal adds as an icon player to the team squad. They also include Muhammad Amir in their team who faces a ban for five years. Amir perform well on the fielding side but the team could not give well in the field performance. They finished at the bottom place in the points table.
2016 to the 2017 Year
In this edition, they include Chris Gayle and Shoaib Malik. They played well in this edition but could not give their best. They succeed to qualify in the play-off stage. At this stage, they face a big loss because they lost their new team Rajshahi Kings in the eliminator.
2017 to the 2018 Year
This time Vikings did not perform well on the base of the squad. Misbah -ul-Haq led the team as a captain. But Ronchi defeats the Chattogram. They register only three wins and get the position at the bottom. Soumya Kumar plays in the team as an icon player.
2018 to the 2019 Year
In this season Mushfiqur Rahim was declared an icon player for the Chattogram team. But Mushfiqur has not agreed to the amount they want 1 corer 60 lac as their salary. After a conversation with BPL Governing Council with Mushfiqur Rahim, they agreed to play the tea as A+ players. They take a good start but in the mid, they can’t stable their position in the tournament. They get 4th position in the points table.
2019 to the 2020 Year
Bangladesh Cricket Board change the rule in the 2019 edition for all the teams. BCB decide took over the charge of the previous BPL and change the name of this league. Bangabandhu BPL T20 in 2019 and BCB own by the team themselves. In this season Akhtar Group sponsors the team as a new owner & changes its name to Chattogram Challengers. They won eight matches and lost four out of twelve. But they could not qualify for the final match. Dhaka team defeat them in the play0off stage.
2021 to the 2022 Year
After the pandemic attack of Covid-19, the 8th season plays in the year 2022. Delta Sports join the franchise as a new owner. Most franchises face changing ownership. This season they play well but could not qualify in the final round.
Chattogram Challengers Team Identity
Every team knows its identity, name, and logo. In the BPL all teams design different colors and styles of kits to represent their team.
Name, Logo & Kit
First time in the 2015 season Chattogram team change their name to Chattogram Kings but later in the 2019 edition, they know as Chattogram Challengers. The logo of the team represents the empire of the cricket world. The color of the logo is Yellow and black. A player with the bat represents the craze of cricket. The Kit of the team is a combination of maximum colors, Black, Purple, White & Blue. On the left side of the kit, the official logo of the team is designed. On the right side, the sponsor company Delta is designed.
Team Anthem
Zubair and Tamim Chaudhary sing the anthem of the Chattogram Challengers team. They sing the theme song for the team like no other. They made a different theme song for the Chattogram team. The Anthem song of the team is ” Zoor by bolo Chattogram Challengers“.
