History of Deccan Chargers Team
Previously named Deccan Chargers was owned by Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd won the bid for the Hyderabad Franchise at US$107 million. Gayatri-Reddy was the co-owner of Deccan chargers and a native of Hyderabad. This franchise is one of the most expensive franchises in IPL. V.V.S Laxman was the captain of this team in 2008 and Robin Singh was the coach of the DC team. Andrew Symonds was the most expensive player on this franchise. Deccan Chargers won the IPL trophy in 2009.
Termination of Deccan Chargers Franchise
Deccan Chargers was terminated from the Indian Premier League on 14 September 2012 due to financial problems. BCCI justified the termination of Deccan Chargers on three reasons which were not paying players and others creating chargers on the assets and solvency proceeding against the company.
It was reported that Deccan Chargers owner Deccan Chronicle rejected the bid by PVP ventures as DCHL’s bankers were not happy with PVP plans to divided the bid amount into two parts over the next two years. DCHL moved to court to solve their issue with BCCI on termination. In July 2020, the Bombay High Court announced that the termination of Deccan Chargers was illegal by BCCI. The High court ordered the BBCI to pay DCHL, 4814.67 crores plus 10% interest. Right now the new team name is for Hyderabad City is SunRisers Hyderabad.

In 2008 team was captained by V.V.S Laxman and Coached by Robin Singh. In 2008 DC won only 2 games out of 14. One against Mumbai Indians and the other against Chennai Super Kings. In this season the captain of the DC team had an injury. Andrew Symonds played only 3 innings before leaving to play for Australia. Only 3 bowlers Shahid Afridi, R.P. Singh, and Pragyan Ojha took more than 4 wickets in the competition.
IPL 2009 Deccan Chargers performance
In 2009 Captain and Coaches were changed. The team was captained by Adam Gilchrist and Coached by Darren Lehmann with Kanualjit Singh. On 19 April they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders to qualify in Semi-final. DC team defeated Delhi Daredevils in the semi-final to reach the final. In the final, they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six runs and won the IPL trophy to qualify for the 2009 Champions League T20.

Due to wining in 2009 fans were expecting high expectations from Deccan Chargers. The team open their tournament with a loss against KKR but won the next three matches subsequently. After their DC went on to lose the next 5 matches. After this situation, everyone worried that DC was played in the next round but they made it by winning 5 consecutive matches and qualifying for playoffs. But Deccan Chargers don’t reach in semifinal and final.

In 2011 and 2012 the performance of Deccan Chargers was very bad. They ended on a high with 3 consecutive wins in 2011 but could not scale up above 7th position in the league. Deccan Chargers Logo
The Deccan Chargers logo is a Charging Bull. In 2008 the color of Deccan Chargers logo was gold and red but in 2009 they change the color of the logo to white and blue. The IPL-Deccan Chargers logo colours with Hex and RGB codes has 5 colour which are Independence (#425170), Maastricht Blue(#021B3A), Light Gray(#D5D6D0), Wine Blue(#AE0B2C), and Raisin Black(#20201E). This color combination was created by user Keshav Naiad.
Deccan Chargers Jersey
Deccan Charger jersey was in 2008 of cream color with sponsors like Jaypee, Nike. In 2009 jersey colorfully convert from cream to blue and sponsors were changed from Jaypee to Chronicle. In 2010 design became bluer in this jersey and Idea entered in the place of Chronicle and McDonalds in place of Chronicle. Year 2011 entry of Ultratech cement in the place of the Idea network and Mcdonald’s was able to maintain its place.

Pragyan Ojha made the most appearance for the DC with 56 matches and was also the team-leading wicket-taker with 62 wickets. Gilchrist was the team-leading run-scorer with 1289 runs while Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma were the only batsmen to have scored more than 1000 runs for the team.
White’s batting average of 38.86 was the highest for the Deccan Chargers while the Shahid Afridi had the best strike rate at 176.08 among players who have batted in over five innings for the team. Andrew Symonds registered 1st century for the DC when he scored 117 runs off 57 balls which was the highest individual score for any DC batsman.
Gilchrist became the only other centurion for the DC when he reaches the 3-figure mark three days later. In bowling, Dale Steyn had the best bowling average of 18.25 among the players who have bowled more than 20 overs.
Ishant Sharma was the only bowler to take a five-wicket haul for the DC. Ashish Reddy has the lowest bowling strike rate for the team while Steyn had the best economy rate among the players who bowled over 20 overs at 14.8 and 6.33 respectively.
Amith Mishra was the only bowler to claim a Hat-trick for the DC. In fielding, Herschelle Gibbs and Rohit Sharma took the most catches for the team while Gilchrist had affected 41 dismissals the most for a wicket-keeper, consisting of 27 catches and 14 stumpings.
